[It's a few days since he arrived, and Kaname's given him some time to settle in, even though she knows he'd object to needing it. It's why she didn't tell him. But now, a few more things are capturing her interest. She might need his help. Also spending time with him is nice.]
Messer, it's me. I'm going back to the houses, probably tomorrow, and I plan to stay over night. If you don't have anything else to do [lol], would you be up for joining me? Another person would make it easier.
but also: same, to be honest. the ships are still kind of uncomfortable to him, too. cramped, quiet, full of strangers- nothing at all like the base he's used to. there was always a buzz of energy on the Elysion, the rumble of engines, the murmur of people, the frequent beat of Walküre at practice. the loss of all of these things is annoyingly distracting.]
Can he hear that small chuckle? Probably. Kaname's smiling right now.]
I'm still working that out. From our last trip, I made a rough layout of the area, so it's in progress. [She pauses.] Actually, do you want to take a look? I'm on the Bloodsport right now, and I can grab some food if you want to meet me.
[Kaname requested that Messer meet her in the dance studio, a place where few rarely spend their time. When he arrives, she has a blanket spread on the floor with some food and drinks. If she's gonna have a serious talk with him, it might as well be comfortable.]
[Considering it's Kaname, this feels weirdly ominous. He'd come assuming she needed help practicing some dance maneuver, but this is decidedly different.
It's still Kaname, though, so he sits down, brows furrowed.]
[Because it doesn't sound like it, but that's the first thing that comes to mind. He hasn't had any other issues, though now that there's no planet to pilfer and no combat from home, he's going to need to start thinking of ways to keep occupied.]
[The Iskaulit...? Wonder what's up. He goes, of course - sending her a quick affirmative - and arrives promptly at noon, with the sort of punctuality befitting a military man. There's a polite knock on the door before he opens it, stepping inside.]
[And inside is a coffee table with a small cake on it to greet him. There's a chair on either side, one where Kaname's currently sitting. She grins at him and gives a wave.]
He takes a moment to absorb the unexpected scene that greets him - he'd expected her, of course, but the cake is a surprise. If that was her goal, it's been accomplished.]
Yes, I remembered. [How could she not? Especially considering their circumstances. Eyeing the chair across from her, she waits for him to take a seat, knowing he won't if she's up and doing things.]
I promise it's not poison. I didn't make it, so you're safe.

That's risky, Kaname. [A beat, and then-] I'll go.
[Because of course he will.]
no subject
[If anything goes wrong, she'll just sing at it.]

and damn him for being unable to refuse you]What exactly are you looking for?
no subject
[He can hear her sigh a little.] If nothing else, just to get out of the ship for a night.

It's still Kaname, though, so he sits down, brows furrowed.]
Is something wrong?
no subject
She gives a defeated chuckle, nodding when he sits. Here, have a sandwich. He's expected to eat it.]
Not wrong, exactly, but I have been thinking.
no subject
He does have a drink, though, because even mild stress gives one a dry mouth.]
Thinking about what?
no subject
You arrived when here when we first got to the last system, but a good portion of the time, we're in ships like this, just drifting.
[Now her turn for a drink.]

[The text is send around 9:30 that morning and is phrased more like an order than a request. Weird.
Well, only weird if he doesn't remember what day it is. Either way, Kaname's waiting in the counseling offices. Come see what's going on.]

Kaname?

Happy birthday, Messer.

Oh, right. That's today, huh.

no subject
I doubt you'd manage to poison a cake by accident.
[And certainly not on purpose. Being somewhat... less than stellar... in the kitchen doesn't mean her meals are deadly.]
